A suggestion for Pro owners

The fact that he is a Pro owner make his post even more strange IMO. Maybe he is trying to be popular with the Pro haters. LOL.

The reason I created the thread was because as a Pro owner I get tired of reading the posts that bash Pros too. Those threads don't start out that way, but they usually have something in common. They talk about how badass the Pro's are, or they unintentionally suggest that the Pro is somehow unique. I was just trying to head some of that off.

Popularity has nothing to do with it.

That way people can just avoid the members they dislike.
Forum would be a much more pleasant place - as it does have a lot of good resources and information.

This thread is ridiculous. Not at all sure why the OP posted it because what he's saying is convoluted and unclear. He tells us he owns a Pro but he knocks people who post about owning them. Not sure what he hopes to gain with his message.

I'm special. I own a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 4Runner. Let's see, which one will make me look good today. Hmmm... :bored:

Hate to break it to you but nobody hates the Pro. NOBODY. Some were disappointed when the reality did not match the expectations of the rumors but that's it. Period.

Let me repeat that so even the thickest heads can finally understand it: NOBODY HATES THE PRO.

Most here, including me, would not hesitate to buy one were we in the market for a new one. At least we would give it very serious consideration.

So, if it's not the truck we object to then what else could it be? Hmm? Let me know if YOU need a hint.

I finally spotted my first TRD pro yesterday on my way to work. Orange. I caught up really fast, which was easy because the 60 year old lady driving it was going 20 under the speed limit. Wtf?! I almost cried.

Who cares if you have a Pro, Trail, SR5, 2wd, etc.

Fixed it for you, KDSS, crawl control, and locker is a trail feature not a PRO specific. lol

This board originally started out as a place for 4Runner owners who are avid off-roaders. Guys who put together their own vehicles, custom fabricated parts and used the 4Runner to the fullest of its capabilities. Some guys never went off the pavement but that was the minority. In comes the TRD PRO crowd (only new 4Runner owners, not guys who had a 2nd, 3rd or 4th Gen) and the shift from off-road enthusiasts to only caring about looks started to happen. The same questions asked over and over again, the same complaints, the same pictures of vehicles that look identical to one another etc... The true contention is between the 4Runner purists and the fly by night 4Runner owners who pop up and then disappear. That's the truth. Yeah sure, it sounds ridiculous to most but to the guys who have had several generations and use the 4Runner to the best of its abilities cannot stand the guys who make their PRO look like a Christmas tree with lights, ICON everything, racks, rotapax etc... I believe that it's your money so you're entitled to do as you wish but I also cant stand the repetitive bullish*t posted every day and I wish the mods would start deleting new threads that have been discussed ad nauseum. People love their vehicles, I'd be lying my as* off if I said I could care less about looks. It just appears that most PRO owners (new Toyota owners) came out of the woodwork because now theres a 4Runner that meets their beauty expectations. Once again, its just a battle between purists and non-purists and that is never going to die. I'd like to see some new PRO owners go over to Pirate 4x4 and see what happens. They think this place is rude, lol. Those guys will sh*t on your seats, pop your tires and pour summers eve in your gas tank.

And now I found out that I never belonged here in the first place, because I fit none of the description of the user this forum was designed for!

I didn't buy a 4Runner, or any of the other 4WD's I've owned because my daddy had deep enough pockets to buy me a toy I could amuse myself, and impress the troops, offroad. I got it because I need to get into the places I need to get into, with no excuses as to why I couldn't! I still can't put a $40,000 rig in jeopardy for no good reason other than fun. My truck is for transportation as well as utility. I wish I could afford a truck to carelessly risk on a whim, but, reality being what it is, I simply cannot.

I came here for information. I got some buried under a bunch of trash heaped on by the same old crew, and now I find out that I should have gone elsewhere ...

Sorry this old utilitarian imposed on the domain of the rich kids playing off Pop's deep pockets....

I kid, I kid! But seriously, forums are just a microcosm of life. You meet people and through interaction/observation find out who actually knows what they're talking about, who the dumbasses are, who the blowhard braggarts are, who the jokers are, who you can count on when in a jam, who you can't, and ultimately choose who you listen to and associate with.

Just because one neighbor is a jerk doesn't mean you stay inside and refuse to talk to the other neighbors.
