A/T Oil Temp Light Came on

So I was driving in the sand at the beach yesterday when I noticed that my A/T oil temp light was on. This is the first time I had ever noticed it on. I was wondering the following:

1. Could driving through relatively soft sand in 4high have caused the transmission to heat up?

2. Is this a sign that I will need to replace my tranny soon?

3. Would you reccomend a tranny cooler even though this is the only time I have ever seen the light on?

No

Hows does your tranny fluid smell and look. Might be time for a flush.

Shouldnt need one. Whats the year of the runner?

Transmission fluid is nice and red, smells ok. I just had it replaced a few months ago. My 4runner is a 1995 with 125k miles. thanks for the help.

I have a 95 as well and I drove from philly to nj in 4wd in the snow without having any A/T lights or problems.

How was the fluid before the tranny flush?

Any grinds or any weird shifting symptoms?

Who did the tranny flush?

The fluid before the flush was a little discolored but not bad. The only shifting issue was into o/d when it is not warmed up enough (damn automatics). I had the local lube shop do the flush, so that makes me a little nervous....
