A twist on the usual VSC light

Had my '03 V8 at the dealer after doing a caliper change to do a bleed/brake flush. I wasn't able to get a good pedal so brought it to the dealer. Picked it up tonight and the brakes feel great. However, the VSC OFF and TRAC OFF lights are on. No check engine light. All other threads I've researched have CEL turned ON...not mine. This was the first time in a long time I've take anything to the dealer. I'm more than slightly annoyed. The lights were on before I even got off their lot.

Anyone seen this before? I disconnected the battery for about 20 mins...didn't do a thing. As soon as I put the car in gear, the lights come on. No codes....

BTW, this thing has 64K on it..and I've owned it about 3 weeks...and it's been nothing but headaches....good thing I got a deal.

Not 100% sure though. I would definitely recommend taking it back to the dealer and having them fix it. If it were me I wouldn't have even driven it off the lot, I would have put it in park, handed the keys back to the service manager, and asked him to call me when it was fixed. The again I don't go to the dealer for anything, soo...

Problem Solved!

That did it...did the zero calibration using a jumper wire and drove the car...no more lights. Thanks so much...saved me the time and frustration of the dealer. I called them back and he noted that their plan was do this same procedure.

To let you know your vehicle will "lose" its Zero Point Calibration data everytime the battery drops too low. (I forget how low it has to drop... think something ridiculous like below 12.3v or something...) I can tell you what happened, the technician had the scantool hooked to the car with the engine off to run the ABS module to bleed the system. He didn't realize that the '03 and '04 4Runners have this voltage sensitive quirk about the Zero Point Calibration and when he was using the scanner it pulled the voltage too low and reset the module.

I did the same thing to my '04 SE V8 4WD when I was playing with the scantool to customize settings at work. LOL
