Hey guys Ive been pouring over this site for the whole weekend looking at all sorts of stuff. Great site here, lots of helpful info :bigok: Right now I have a 2006 Titanium Silver V6 SE 4x4 reserved and am planning to pick it up on Saturday. Im playing around with a couple dealers. My current dealer lost a sale to the one I first went to so he was eager to best his price on the 4R and my trade in. The price as it stands now is $29.5K + TTR. My question is has anyone had any experience with the Costco auto program? My dad got his V8 SE a couple years ago for 28 and change :awais: by using this as leverage on other dealers. Im going to try it out on Monday and see. Either way I cant wait! The T4R is a damn phenominal truck and cant wait to get mine! I will do everything perfect and to the T on it. I drive a supercharged 350Z right now and am just tired of the whole sports car thing. Plus I want to get back into hunting and backpacking and all that fun stuff. Going fast gets troublesome after awhile :biggrin2: I was rather dissapointed to find out that there are no H11 Silverstar bulbs?? I looked around but couldnt seem to find any. The HID conv kit looks great though so thatll be on top of my list. I will try to not spend $10K+ on mods like I did with the Z :lmao: I will for sure post up alot of pics as photography is an amatuer hobby of mine!

You can use either Edmunds or Kelley Blue Book to find out what invoice price is on the truck you're looking at. They'll also tell you what incentives (cash and/or financing) are available in your area. Cash back has been in the $1000-$2000 range for several months now - SUV's don't sell as well in the summer, and gas prices haven't helped.
You should be able to get within a few hundred dollars of what Edmunds/KBB say the invoice price is without the incentives, and then the cash back or cheap financing is icing on the cake.
But never say the word "invoice" to the dealer - you'll get into a debate about what invoice means and how the Internet is wrong (BS). So walk in and talk about a dollar figure in mind, not "x over invoice".
Those sites will also help you appraise your trade in to see if you're really getting the best deal. Edmunds is usually too high and KBB too low, so an average of the two is a pretty good number to work with.

Hmm I checked both and they are actually on the high side for my trade in and damn close the "invoice" on KBB. Maybe I should just take it :D Need to take off my supercharger first though!

The Costco program is like buying milk or bread at a grocery store, it's all a fixed price for a certain trim/model with $XXX over invoice. I used the Costco program when I bought my '04 Camry in 2003. The program is only at a specific dealer in a given area, one dealer in the entire Bay Area out here in California. Considering that I bought next year's model, the Camry was a decent deal at the time. Other dealers either couldn't locate what I wanted (navigation) or wouldn't come down in price. With the program I probably ended saving time wasted neogiating and about $2k.

My cousin used the Costco program when he was shopping his '04 Camry in mid 2004. There a couple dealers that were able to beat Costco's price. He ended up going to a dealer that beat Costco's price by a couple hundred.

I later bought my other two Toyota's outside of Costco's program. My advice is shop around and definately know what others in your area are paying for the truck. If you don't want to waste time haggling and/or it's a hot and high demand vehicle go with the Costco program if it's available. There's one caveat though, some models are excluded from the program. In 2002 Honda Odyssey wasn't a part of it. However, when I was looking at the RX330 (dealers refuse to trade for them and they were going for sticker), it was on the program and one dealer did offer to match to Costco's price, though pretty reluctant when it came to locating a specific color and options. I doubt the 4R will be excluded though.

Excellent feedback guys, thanks! The one I put a deposit on is actually at the Costco dealer, so Im going to call them tomorrow and see what price they give me. Kinda fun telling the dealers I got "$XX,XXX" deal from these guys and hearing them say, "Ill beat that" I cant wait for tomorrow, hopefully I can cut out of work early and beat the tunnel traffic!

we actually got the best proce through a costco dealer, but i think we got a better deal because we got two cars at the same time. my 4runner and my mom's avalon. so in essence we made out pretty good with two cars and paying a grand a month for two cars.
