A Window AC unit in my back window?

I am travelling a decent distance to a tournament we are playing in in the middle of July. The tournament starts at midnight friday night and games play all day and night, to end Sunday afternoon.

There is a decent sized campground at the park that we are free to park at. I don't feel like being sticky and nasty all weekend with no sleep because of the heat and humidity. (90+ degrees and sweltering humidity)

I can borrow a medium sized generator and have a new window AC unit in my garage. I wonder if I can fab up some supports and reassemble them when I get camped so I can sleep and chill in my 4R in the AC without having to run the motor.

Feasible?

This place isn't like most campgrounds. Being as there are games going at all times, the campground is more of a partyground. No rules outside of normal excise regulations.

There are usually a couple dozen generators running all nights.

So far the plans are to build a "stand" for the Unit to hold it in position in the back window out of 2x4s that will assemble and disassemble with bolts and wingnuts (no tools needed). The stand will utilize parts of the 4R and the ground to provide support. A piece of Luaan board cut out to fit the window opening will "seal" the window. Bits of duct tape to finish.

If you ever complete this project you have to post some pics! You could receive the 1st ever redneck-runner award. All kidding aside, I do think it is a good idea. I would rather build a stand that utilized the receiver hitch so nobody could just walk off with my cooler and stand. How big is the cooler? Would it fit better in one of the side windows?

if this works out, us runners over here in AZ may just make this a full time mod. seems to be the only way to keep the inside of the car under 90 degrees!

hell yeah! insulate the runner so its like a fridge inside. id definitely be the coolest truck out there!
