A340H damage - ATF level issues

Well, first real day out with my 88 SAS and the front driveline came apart and punctured the tranny pan. Looks like the only other damage is to these hard lines at the rear. From looking online, they appear to press into their holes. Can anyone tell me what these lines would be called? I may just yank them out and straighten them, and get a new pan of course.

Found them, they are the oil tubes, listed as part 999 in every diagram I’ve found, but every parts site I’ve found doesn’t have them.

I’m thinking I can bend the worst one back into shape. I’m guessing this is a problem not many of you have had....

I’m going to try Evco on Monday, see if they can fab something that matches.

The pan is cheap enough to just buy.

This lesson, much more expensive. I’m debating a spacer for the driveline now or a long spline from trailgear.

Great advice on the parts transmission. Picked an A340H up for $20. Seller took it out of his own truck because it wasn’t running right, unknown issue. But, the oil tube I needed and the pan were in good shape. Got my rig all out back together, just need to fill it back up.

I was going to suggest a parts transmission or going to a transmission part warehouse. Looks like you got it fixed tho.
 
It shifts a TON better now too. Used to lurch when switching from drive to reverse, now it’s very smooth, I actually thought it wasn’t shifting at all at first.

Not all the way back on the road yet. After I got everything filled I drove around the block and it wasn't starting in 1st gear, at least it didn't feel like it. Also got a loud clang in reverse. Pulled the dipstick and it looked low. Added more ATF, at least 5 quarts now, and it's better but still doesn't feel like it's starting in first or shifting at all. I'm thinking to add more fluid, because the level only went down once warmed up. I thought the capacity was 4.8 quarts for the A340H. Back to google, if anyone has pointers they would be gladly accepted.

Are you checking fluid with it running and in park on flat ground with it at normal running temperature?
 
It’s got 8 quarts in it now and the level checked where it should be finally. Drove it and it acted like it should.

Now today it’s showing too high. Truck feels like it has no power starting off. It’s definitely starting in first, but I’ve got no acceleration.

I don’t think it’s the 35s, even though on only drove it once with them on, I remember it having more power.

Ok, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Fluid was an inch above the hot lines, I let out maybe 2 quarts, now it’s barely touching the tip of the dipstick.

Although with letting that little bit out, it had more power starting off and kicked down a gear when I felt like it should.

I figured. I’ve got to be doing something wrong. The cold markings on the dipstick must be there for a reason though right?
