Ark, what is your front suspension set at? Did you adjust the coilsovers or leave them set from the Icon/Metaltech? I think its 2.5" from Icon?

I have the same coilovers and want to run 285/70's but don't want to crank down on the coil over for 3", so was thinking of doing 1" body lift to clear the tires.

I've not adjusted the fronts at all, they gave me 3.25-3.5" lift out of the box. A body lift would definitely help clear the tires and also keep your ride from getting stiffer, I'd say that's your best bet.

Any way you could measure how much of the upper shock/thread part is showing for each side? I messed with mine and not sure what the icon stock was. I think i got it close, it's close enough to level but just curious.

I've got exactly 1.25" thread showing. I need to raise the driver side slightly as it's lower than the passenger side, but right now both have 1.25".

I love my 4th gen, but I've also been thinking about getting a "trail" rig and using the 4runner for daily driving only (and an occasional hunting trip). I happened across a great deal on a 88 pickup over the weekend and pulled the trigger. I'm unsure at the moment what I'll be doing with my 4th gen and the mods, I've been considering going closer to stock for better ride, handling, and mpg's. I'm not going anywhere, that's for sure, but my 4runner "build" has pretty much come to a close. I'll be slowly working on the pickup for the foreseeable future. Here's the new rig, it's mostly stock as far as I can tell except 31x10.50 all terrains and custom rear bumper.

Are you talking about the Rola Rack? If so, it's definitely for sale but I'm going to keep that local only, too big/costly to ship.

A few weeks ago I purchased Icon extended travel front coil overs and the Metal Tech long travel rear kit. Also got a Cornfed 3/4" rear spacer to correct driver side lean, extended front brake lines (extended rear lines come in the MT kit), MT lower links, and parts to build extended rear end links for the sway bar. I've installed everything except the rear lower links and front brake lines.

Otherwise i love the travel it gives to the rear wheel. I have a pic in my build where i drop the wheel and it is not even to the full extend.

Otherwise i love the travel it gives to the rear wheel. I have a pic in my build where i drop the wheel and it is not even to the full extend.

I had order the same shocks and they developed a squeak, you could make it squeak just by getting in and out of the car, or of course if you stand on the rear bumper and bounce up and down. I called ICON and it was a bad batch of shocks. I had to get out VS 2.0 into the piggybacks to eliminate the squeak.

I ended up selling the rear, still have the front installed. The rear shocks squeaked just as you mentioned. I loved the travel but didn't care for the ride quality or how it handled added weight. I decided to just switch back to stock since I'm not going to be doing anything more than dirt roads with my 4runner now.

Awesome, look forward to seeing it! Care if I ask what you got the 18's for, I should be picking some up next week as well! Getting mine for $325! Should be able to sale the sport 17's for something like that! Why did you decide to step down a tire size? I am having that debate as well! Thanks for all info!

Sounds like you're going for the set up I'm working on. I really like the look of the duratracs on the 18's, Nitto TG in that size also look pretty good.

looking forward to some pics though, so you're running Icon ext. fronts, Icon shocks in the rear and your air bags adjusted?

Toyo open country AT 2's have a LT in C rate in that size as well, what I'm leaning too!! I don't offload any, dura's may be a lite much for me
