So I just ended up in a wreck.. low speed collision.. didn't pop the airbag, but sure did jack the front end up.. (drivers side bumper and fender.. The truck is still drivable. but probably gonna be expensive.

But the question is...

Would it make more sense to get a winch bumper (ie something that won't crumple like aluminum foil in a low speed collision)

And what do you think would be the difference in price?

Just kicking the thought around..

Not sure what a stock replacemt would cost you, but I have seen some threads on here showing just how much shrockworks bumpers and the likes can take. If it were me, I'd get a plate bumper. I would guess they will be around the same price anyway...

First step is to insure your ins. co. will write you the check for repairs, some will not.

Think about your suspension as well. From what Ive read on here if your going to be puting more weight up front such as steel bumper your going to need to upgrade your front end suspension to handle the added weight.

I have actually though about it before and if it happened to me I would definately go for the better bumper, then simply adjust things accordingly, everybody wants the better stuff and if you have to replace it might as well get it, I know a guy who hit a deer with his Tacoma and there wasn't much of a price difference.
