About the Auto transmission..

So I hear the older (1st, 2nd gen) toyota automatic's top part tends to break because of the weight of the transfer case.
Anybody know of that happening?
And, if so, anybody make a crossmember or griddle type thing for extra support of the transfercase?
A friend of my mechanic is a transmission guy who told him that.. so just curious.

Ive never heard that before. The tranny and transfer case share the same mount, and its under the T case.

And there are alot of other transfer case crossmembers and mounts out there. Check budbuilt and trail-gear out.

I've been working at a transmission shop for a long time now and have never heard of this happening. Also i'm not sure who make's a cross member for an automatic, i know for a fact trail gear's doesn't work, i had to fab one on my old crawler.

Tailing? like off-roading? Or pulling a trailer?

No it shouldnt over heat. Make sure you have good fluid and that your tranny cooler isnt filled with mud.

Case breaking, not common.
Overheating, somewhat common.
Cross member/skid plate, BudBuilt is the best. Call him about an auto application.

Overheating on these are common, change out your fluid blow air through your cooler's to much sure they are not plugged and clean your filter.
