I am about to buy my first 4 Runner.....Silver 2001 SR5 4x4 with the sport package w/60K for $20,000. Please let me know if this is a good deal and what common problems these vehicles have. Thanks alot, dont want to make another mistake like when I purchased my 99 Expedition...POS!

I plugged in the numbers at Edumunds and came up with $20,512 at a dealer and $18,566 from a private party. So it is in line with the right price. Of course if it have a sun roof or alloy wheels the price will be higher. I went shopping with a friend and 4Runners are always higher than other SUV's, kind of makes you want to get something else. Stick with the 4Runner and you be better off in the long run.
I have a 2WD 2001 with 45,000 miles. Only thing wrong was a piece of plastic broke at the base of the drivers seat, repaired under warranty. Everything works flawlessly. Be sure to check everything out. Their will be a little rust inside the chrome bumpers, that is normal, but be sure to check overall for any rust. It would be nice to know if the 30,000, 60,000 mile and other regular maintance was done. The timing belt doesn't get changed till 90,000.
