ABS Woes
When I bought my 4runner about 2 months ago, I noticed my ABS would act up. It would pulsate when coming to normal stops and go absolutely crazy when driving on gravel. I had since just deactivated it. During this time it never gave a ABS light until I unplugged it from the actuator.
I replaced my front breaks this weekend and decided to look further into this issue. I researched and researched and decided to pull each sensor and give it a good cleaning. I found a lot of oil on the two rear sensors and tried to clean out there tubes (for lack of better description) as best I could. I plugged the ABS module back in and turned the ignition and to my surprise now found that the ABS light was glowing.
I did some more research and found how to pull the ABS codes and this is what I got:
33 - MALFUNCTION AT RIGHT REAR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL.
34 - MALFUNCTION AT LEFT REAR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL.
21 - OPEN OR SHORT IN 3-WAY SOLENOID FOR RIGHT FRONT WHEEL OR DEFECTIVE ABS ACTUATOR.
22 - OPEN OR SHORT IN 3-WAY SOLENOID FOR LEFT FRONT WHEEL OR DEFECTIVE ABS ACTIATOR.
23 - OPEN OR SHORT IN 3-WAY SOLENOID FOR RIGHT REAR WHEEL OR DEFECTIVE ABS ACTUATOR.
How is this even possible? Could it be that I didn't tighten them up enough or could it be there is something major wrong with the unit itself? Why wasnt the light on in the first place?
