When I was wheeling last weekend, I went through some decently deep water a couple times (almost hood height at the deepest but very quick in and out). After getting out, I noticed my brake pedal traveling way farther than before and my stopping power has decreased significantly. Also, my ABS light came on. So, I tested that with an emergency stop and sure enough, my ABS is not working on any of the 4 wheels.
I've noticed a different brake feel after going through water many times before, but it always returns to normal once the brakes are dry again. This time, the spongy feel has remained and the ABS is no longer working.
Has anyone encountered anything like this before? Where should I start? The brake fluid reservoir is still full so I doubt there is a fluid leak or air getting into the system. I'm wondering if I shorted something out in the ABS system? I don't have a very good understanding of how the ABS actuates so I don't really know where to start troubleshooting.
