AC amplifier location

Hi all,

Where is the location of the AC amplifier on a 99 4Runner? Is that located under the blower housing?

according to the FSM, the amplifier is located behind the glove box down and to the left of the blower unit.

I just completed a rebuild of all the ASC components. Condensor, Drier/receiver, compressor, pressure switch, evaparator core, thermister, AC amplifier (manual a/c as Auto a/c uses a relay), even replaced the 10A fuse in fuise box under the hood.

Thought I would post these pictures to help next the T4R member when dealing with the AC Amplifier on a 3rd gen.

So… I’m assuming it’s not normal to be missing the amplifier from my 2001 Manual AC….I’d have to double check now, but I don’t think I saw the cable either

No the Electrical Wire Diagram I provided shows an ac amplifier on it. With the manual ac.

You need to fix your power issues first before your ac issue will be resolved.

My issue is now resolved! For the 2001 and manual ac, the ac amplifier is built into the HVAC control unit, it will not be found under/behind the glove department box!

Swapped my unit out and my AC finally turned on, fully functional!

My issue is now resolved.

For anyone reading this for help for oneself, mainly experiencing no function/lights to your ac and circulation button.

For my 01 manual ac system, there was not a ac amplifier behind/under the glove department box, like the other years. The AC amplifier is built into the HVAC control unit, so swapping that out solved my issue.

Fully functional AC now! You can try to run all these tests you want, but it doesn’t really matter if you can’t electronically command your AC/compressor to be turned on. Will update with photos for better help and probably upload videos to YouTube for future 01/manual ac havers.

First photo is typically where you could find the AC amplifier. In my case, it is integrated into my HVAC control unit.
