AC Compressor: Denso or Four Seasons

Current one is rattling inside the compressor and starts out cold but slowly warms up. Refrigerant charge is sufficient. Looking at Rock Auto and kits on Ebay.... Both seem to be around the same price range. Curious if anyone has any long term feedback on either of these.....

Thanks..... Still throwing around how much I want to throw at the project.

the four seasons is a reman denso.

Go with what ever is the cheapest.

I just replaced my pops sequoia Compressor with a $75 ebay used on and he is as cool as a cucumber.

Yeah, I may head that route too. I don't use the ac enough to warrant putting alot of money into it. Did you replace the dryer and expansion valve too?

Opie74,

I guess you are not effected by the heat wave at the moment.

Since I am using two Four Seasons/reman Motorcraft compressors in Fords, it would stand to reason that their reman for the 4runners are Densos as Singtoe stated.

I bought a brand new Denso from rockauto for around 250 and it has been working fine. The OEM one is made by Denso.

Heat wave broke here in MI this past Sat. Friday we hit a new record of 103. More seasonable 86 here today. I bike to work the majority of the time so the runner sits in the driveway. Thats why I am not pushing to get the AC fixed. But for the times when its a family vehicle, they will not stand having the windows down when its hot. So I do need to get it fixed, just not in a big yank to get it done.

Ill probably go the reman route to save money. Ive almost pulled the pin on used compressors off Ebay, but would rather have something with a warranty given the limited use it sees.

Pulled all new items off Ebay including a NIB condenser for a total of $329 shipped. All new Denso parts other than the condenser with I think is a TTY or TTC..... Took some searching and sourcing...

Take a pic and post it when all arrives, then after everything is installed.

While my compressor is almost in its twilight, it was still able to blow 40 degrees in 95 degree weather today.
