AC Condenser replacement?

I ordered the Denso Condenser from Amazon, though I think Rock Auto had a better price.

After I replace the Condenser (put a hole in it while working on timing belt/water pump), how do I recharge it? Do I buy a kit at the local auto store or take it to a shop? What's been your experience?

I also need to buy o-rings and PAG oil.

How do I remove these lines? The bolt comes out and they turn but I don't see how they release.

You can not charge it your self no matter what anyone else tells you or the auto store guy. You need to have it vac'ed and properly done. Replace the coil your self and take it to a shop to have charged. Should cost $100-$150

I already ordered the replacement Condenser and have an appointment to get my 4Runner in the shop to be vacuumed and charged after it's installed.

How to I detach these lines?

Take out the bolt and pull. O'rings on the other side of the flange. Make sure the new condenser has a desiccant bag in it. Some come with some without.

Thanks for the info. I ended up getting the Denso condenser from RockAuto. Amazon's one day shipping turned into one week, so I cancelled the order.

Here's a lesson on O-rings for the Condenser..... don't buy them from a local auto shop who isn't certain they have the exact one. Small one fit lower line just fine. Upper line wasn't an exact fit. Hopefully my local hardware store has something I can use.

in one video I saw, it said when you get the new condenser and remove the tabs you should get that "pfft" sound because the new condenser should be sealed. However, the new Denso I got from [MENTION=104928]RockAuto[/MENTION] didn't do that - also the box it was shipped in was damaged.

Am I ok to still use this one I received, or do I send it back for a replacement?

My denso from rock auto didn't make a pfft noise and it works great.

Make sure they are the correct type of rubber for refrigerant, I forget what type of rubber it is; but there is a difference if I recall.

They are sealed, but honestly not really strongly vacuumed or anything, I rarely hear a "pft" when I pull covers off a new one. But then again I am 3400ft so what little vacuum there might be in the condenser is probably negated.
