I bungled up my passenger side TRE while working on LBJ and lift install. I've got OEM LBJ going in. Has anybody had any experience with non-OEM TREs?

I got duralast gold. And they holding up. Lmfao I'm gonna catch one for this. Even running duralast gold LBJ. But just got my OEM in few days ago.

You can run them. They may give you 6 month before loosening or could last year's. Its hit and miss. If your wheel hard I would stick to OEM.

I had AC Delco inner's on my 4Runner until my rack failed (unrelated). Worked great for the 8 months they were in there. The fact that I only paid $40 for both made it even sweeter.

I also have a Duralast gold tie rod end in my 4R and it is holding up great. For the money and the fact that I had to buy one at it was the only one available, it seems fine. It's got a life time warranty so even if starts to fail, swapping a replacement in is no big deal (assuming it doesn't completely snap off).

If it does start to go, I'll report back.

It looks like you made your decision, but in case any others check this thread out and want more input...

The Sankei ones I got from NAPA have lasted me about 34k miles and are going. They might have been going sooner, anyway, but I noticed looseness with the ITR on the passenger side (confirmed for me by shop) and torn boots on the OTREs. Supposedly Sankei was OEM or close, but I was hoping for a little longer.

Use case is important though, and with an almost 3" lift, and the occasional wheeling, I'm not sure if I should be surprised. It seems like anything that touches the suspension gets trashed earlier with lifts and mild to moderate off-roading.

I am going with OEM ITRs from Amayama though since they're about half the price as the best prices in the US, even when you factor in the $30 shipping from Japan. I'll be getting OEM OTRE's from CamelBack since the price difference was negligible on those.

I've used the AC Delco Professional inner and outer TRE. They've held up and seem to be well made. I'd stay away from the "Advantage" line.

Needing an alignment after swapping that part is not super easy and cheap.

I just threaded it in (and measured it) the same amount of rotations. Still drives perfectly straight as it did before.

Technically you are correct, you should get an alignment done. I was just going to wait until i got new tires

Agreed this can be a PITA, but if you have a Lifetime Alignment program or something it's only the time-off kind of PITA not really the cost. However, this is part of the reason I'm trying the OEM ITR's since I don't want to repeat this process every 30k miles. Although, at the rate I'm not putting miles on the truck now, 30k miles will be many years down the literal road.

Is the steering tighter and what not now? Glad it all worked out! Sounds like you're done with your current tires anyway, so no rush on getting the alignment perfect!

The steering was never loose per say. I wrecked the OTE when I was removing it to do the LBJ's.

What did tighten up the steering was the guide bushing in the rack (old roller style to the new design).

Bought the OEM for peace of mind. I'm putting in a lift, so I figure it's going to see a lot more stress, and the OEM seems to be the best anywhere.
