Ac, multi information display went out, and more,,

Help Please. A/C and Multi-Information Display went out at the same time. Blower doesnt work, even the heater doesnt work.

Also other Items went out at the same time. The battery is not being charged, the window works, but the auto switch on the drivers power window is not working, and the auto on the power sun/moon roof is not working. It all went out at the same time. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I was pulling my boat at night and as I pulled the trailer light plug out of the trailer light socket and/or rolling down the power window at the same time. That is about the same time everything quit working. The auto switch on the rear power window quit working for a bit, but is now working again.

I did have some blown fuses that are related to the trailer lights. I have replaced the fuses and the A/C relay (marked Heater as I mention below as well) that also controls the Multi-Information Display. I jumped one of the prongs off with a test light and the multi function display worked. But will not work with out being jumped off with a test light.

I dont want to just start replacing things like the alternator since they are expensive. ($175.00 aftermarket) I replaced the relay that is marked "heater" on the cover, it was $50 plus, and it didnt fix anything. So obviously the other one wasnt bad. I swapped the one marked "mg clt" on the cover with the one next to it marked "ac 115 v inv" and it didnt fix anything as well. Maybe worth mentioning too is, the battery "Discharge Warning Light" does not come on, even when I first turn on the ignition. And my battery definitely got discharged.

Not sure if Im just lucky and several things happened at the same time, or if they are all related.

I hope its not the ecu,,but what ever,,I need my truck back running soon, daily driver.

Has anyone else had this issue since then? No battery issue, just the multi function going blank and no heater controls working at all.

My wife's 2003 Sport just had this happen over the weekend and I cannot find a blown fuse or a bad relay. I also know the lights in the panel are fine as the multi function display still is lit except for the lcd info. The clock shows, not the range or ac heat info. This has me completely confused as I am really very good at this. Any help?

what was your senario? he mentioned a posible short when disconnecting the trailor light plug. i would first try reseting the window up/down positions google "reseting auto window functions in toyota 4runner" it will take you through the process. see what that does/doesnt change. check the circuits behind the A/C multi function panel. other than that i'm unsure. any check engine lights, is the battery still good. you can remove the altinator and take it to a parts store to have tested.

I did source down everything I could. I pulled out the panel and looked at the connections.

The scenario is I got in the 4runner after being gone for a few days and went to the store. The first thing I noticed was the multi display and the heater controls were not there. The multi info panel lights and the clock lcd is there but no range or hvac lcd indicators are on the panel and no lights in the three hvac controls with out any operation from them. My wife used her car for the 2 days I was gone but never noticed or ran the heater / ac.

I am beyond baffled. I will start the truck tonight before I go to the stealership and test the voltage on the alternator but I would have a dead battery otherwise.

Any additional help on this is appreciated.

after resetting the computer twice with the battery cables unplugged I have reset the windows / moon roof too.

im just assuming you def checked the dimmer switch and tried to hit the mode selector button to try an cycle through range, mpg ave, outside temp, etc.. does your wife know anything about what happend while you were gone? sorry that sounds like an inapropriate question lol.

Funny, no worries

I ran through all of that. It seems as if the ac control booster or the ecm fried. I was hoping there would be someone else out there with a quick fix. The post I replied to and one other are the only 2 circumstances I can find with no resolution.

So far I have gone trough and tested all the circuits / fuses. Relays for the heater control and Magnetic AC Clutch, verified the connections to the panel, outside temp sensor is connected, 2 ecu resets, cycled the lights with the dimmer as I feel the multi info panel is not lit during the day and right now it is back lit with the lights not on which is a sign to me.

if u know someone else with a 4runner and some time you could try there display in ur truck or ur display in there truck to see if the display is bad for some reason it's got me confused as well

airconditioning wiring diagrams if u didn't have them hopefully you can save the images and view them better on a computer

Thanks, I downloaded the wiring diagram on Sunday to see what I could locate. Unfortunately I had to drop it off at the stealership last night. In order for us to go anywhere with our dogs I need ac.

Once I know more I will update this so there is a reference point for anyone else in a similar situation.

Well the stealership is saying it is the AC Control Booster that died. We will see tomorrow once it get's replaced if that is truly the cause.
