AC Recharge in Raleigh, NC

I want to get my A/c recharged for the upcoming summer, even though AC is working fine.

I was thinking about going to the dealership, but I wonder how busy they are with the recalls.

So I need a place in Raleigh to get my ac recharged.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Why not simply check the pressure? If it doesnt need any R134a, then there is nothing that can be done.

Most auto parts stores sell a recharge kit that has both the ability to check the pressure and the refrigerant to refill the system:

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE that was built in 2001, and I have owned it since it was new. I have never had to add refrigerant to the system yet; and I hope it can get through this summer as well.

If not, Wal-Mart sells a can of refrigerant (R-134a) with the little hose/cap attached to it - for about twenty bucks.


P.S. If your car is pre-'94 and has not been retrofitted, you will probably have to use the old R-12 (Freon); which is very hard to find.

Freon itself is illegal to buy without a permit. If you need freon and not the R134A you have 2 options.
1. There are some Chinese websites that will sell it, but its pretty expensive plus illegal if you get caught.
2. A certified AC technician would have a permit, like you mentioned, the stealership.
