whatever you do, don't let them just charge the system without checking for leaks and at the very least hooking up a gauge set.

do you know what type of refrigerant the system uses? If it's an old system then that stuff is damn expensive at around $1200 for just a charge (refrigerant is discontinued). Then it will slowly leak out and you'll call them back in a panic. To have a new system installed means new lines and a new unit for the new refrigerant. Just like an R12-R134a conversion on old cars.

Thank you for the information...

Turns out I was low on Coolant, only by a few pounds.
The guy that came out was AWESOME!!! He was knowledgeable, nice and aggressively priced. If anyone wants his contact information, let me know, I highly recommend him :).

The coolant used was 22 something.

honest question... where did it all go? hope he checked for leaks and didn't just fill it up. Otherwise my point is that somewhere down the road it won't work again and you will just want it fixed so you'll pay them to charge it again.

He said, he checked and did not find leaks. He said to keep an eye and he will come back in 6 months to check if it's a lot less and will do more of a full check for leaks.

Appreciate the heads up
