AC Unit Dimmed/Blacked out on the left side

Okay so i removed my factory stereo on my 2002 Toyota 4Runner Limited and when i put it back in and turned my lights on.. The A/C console's light was dimmed/off on the left side.

Are one of the plugs loose in the back? what do i do to fix it?

Is it fixable without buying a whole new A/C console?

You most likely have a bulb out behind the display. It doesn't affect the performance at all of the system. I never replaced my bulb because I didn't really mind it but eventually my entire HVAC assembly stopped working (for a different reason) and the whole thing was replaced.

I have the same problem. I've had this since I bought the vehicle several weeks ago. I haven't had time to pull everything apart to look for a light though. If you figure it out can you post the solution here? I had posted the question a few weeks ago but did not get an answer.

I have a 99 and recently installed a new stereo. My blinkers didn't work when the bezel was off and unplugged, nor did my clock when I reinstalled everything. I did realize that I had plugged one of the harnesses into the wrong plug, simple fix.

I didn't have to take out my a/c display though.

same thing happened to me. remove the ac unit and unscrew the case. the bulbs are sloted and screw into place. mine became loose during install. the bulbs must be tight to make electrical connection. easy fix and I did find picture instructions on this site. search for ac backlight

Can you post a link to that thread? You can't search for "ac backlight" because "ac" is less than 3 characters.

I wasn't able to find the thread with pictures by searching for other things. I was able to find them for the auto unit though, it links to Yotatech.

Does anyone have any info/instructions for the 3rd Gen unit without the auto climate control? I have the old 3 knob style and the lighting is out behind my fan speed control.
