It may just be a characteristic of the drive-by wire throttle, but it seems that on my 4Runner that when I push the gas pedal it moves a little bit before there is any response (whether in Park, Neutral, or Drive). I suppose this is normal and everyone's is like this, right?

Haven't noticed it. Every vehicle I drive seems to be different in the gas and brake pedal responses. I travel for business and rent a lot of cars so I have driven many makes and models and, more times than not, I have to get used to those things before I feel comfortable.

Hey man, yeah there is definitely a delay. I know I've passed a few people and when I hit the gas hard. It takes like a second for the truck to process and then the truck starts to move. I think I read on here that the acceleration is electronic or something and that is why there is a delay vs a wire physically pulling the throttle open. If that makes sense.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I haven't really paid attention to it when I accelerate to pass someone or just plain accelerate. I'm noticing it when I first push the gas pedal when it is in idle position, like when I take off at a stop light or just sitting parked and revving it up a little. I think the easiest way to see is if you just sit in park and push the gas and watch the RPM gauge (tach) and see if you notice that the gas pedal moves a little before the RPM goes up.
