Access Toyota?

Hi all. Newcomer here. I'm looking to buy an 06-08 used 4R, but have been coming up short. A few low-mileage candidates I've seen are not much less than new. So, I'm reconsidering buying new.

However, I heard that there was something called (I think) "Access Toyota," which means, in plain language, that Toyota dealers don't haggle.

Is this true? Could I expect a discount buying through Costco?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Toyotas are not like Saturns (fixed pricing) or Scions (fixed pricing at the dealership level). So your exact Toyota as the next guy from the same dealership could be a different price depending how well you've negotiated the price.

Costco is good, if you're buying next year's model, special order or trying to get a very popular car that is going for MSRP. Essentially, anytime you're after a model that dealers won't be giving you a break on. Otherwise, with a little research you can do much better than Costco. Costco's pricing is non-negotiating and you'll pay the same as the next person through the program. In NorCal, there is only one dealer that is an authorized Costco dealer. Some times you'll be able to find a dealer that is willing to match Costco's pricing.

Right now, the market is in your favor and you should be able to get a very good, if not a great deal on a 4Runner, or any SUV or truck for that matter.
