Accessing a dent from the inside (rear quarter panel)

I have a 2000 SR5 and someone hit it behind the rear wheel well, and it's a bit dented just below and in front of the tail light lens on the passenger side. I like to push the dent out as best I can from the inside and touch up the paint myself. But, what's the best way to get in there? It's pretty close to where the jack and tire iron is stowed. Is it possible to (easily?) remove the plastic lining from the cargo area?
