Accessory color dilemma....

So I was expecting to get a new T4R in Shadow Mica (or a dark color), but I am instead getting one in White. This kind of puts a kink in my mod planning.

My original mods were going to be a black powdercoat a Go Rhino hitch step and a T&H Eurotech bull bar (with lights to follow after my wife stops yelling at me). However, my color change has gotten me thinking I may need to go chrome instead of black because black & white together may just be too much. (This really kills me because the powdercoat looks better IMO & it is cheaper)

However, this morning I had a brand new white Tahoe pull up next to me with a black bull bar on the front & it looked sharp. I did not get a good look at it since I had to turn, but for the split second I saw it, I did not think it looked too shabby.

Since I am getting the Limited, the entire truck is color keyed. There is not a single item that is chrome on the truck. So I am not tied to Chrome, I just think it may look better with the White paint.

What do you fine people think? Should I go chrome on white, or be daring & go black on white?

I'm not a huge fan of chrome and I'm glad in 2004 the SE didn't come with a chrome grill. I'd have probably upgraded to a Limited just to avoid the fact

Anyways, having a "Stormtrooper" 4Runner isn't such a bad thing in my opinion. :rocker:

I think either one will look good, as long as you don't mix. I would recommend going stainless (not chrome) over black. The reason being, no matter what brand black powder coating (chrome also), it will rust in a couple years. If you're going to spend that money, for a couple bucks more you will get a better life out of these products.

You ordered a truck and they sent you the WRONG COLOR?!?!?!? How are you not pissed off about this?
Nevermind. I just read the story in your other thread.

Still, you had no idea what color you were going to get and you still got one anyway???? That's pretty ballsy.

No, I special ordered & I got so pissed that they kept dragging their feet that I located a truck that closely matched what I wanted & bought it instead of waiting for the special order.

I am pissed at the process & the neverending runaround I got at this dealership, but I am happy I am finally getting a new truck.

The roof rails, splash guards, and running boards are black. The bull bar and step are so small, black will look fine.

If you were doing a full brush guard, chrome would look better. But I'm not a fan of big brush guards.

I hate to say I told you so but this is what happen to me. I knew you would be waiting until you were tired of the BS! It's all over now, I bet you're excited.

Yeah...I should have listened to everyone from the start. But the way I see it, I am 30 years old, and this is the first new car I have ever purchased. It certainly will not be the last new car I buy in my life. I hit a bunch of speed bumps & landmines along the way & now I know what to do & what NOT to do for next time. That is they way I approach life. You have to learn from your mistakes & not dwell on what you "could have done differently."

I am really excited about getting the new truck. The color thing bothered me at first, but I put a higher priority on the options than I did the color anyway. My wife wanted me to give up the Nav & X-Reas & settle for one they had on the lot that had things I did not want (such as a spoiler). I was not willing to give in on the options, so the next thing I had to be flexible with was the color. Now that I start looking around, I am pretty happy with my decision.

At least it is not Cotton Candy Pink or something like that!!! :D

Not exactly. I ordered one in Shadow Mica. I got sick of waiting so I started looking at the inventory database for my region. I found 6 trucks that had all the options I wanted. 2 were Galactic Grey, 1 was Black, and 3 were White. 5 of the 6 were already sold & that is how I wound up with the white one with Taupe interior. I knew the color when I called the dealer & told him to work a trade for it.

I merged two threads into one. Try to avoid making multiple threads please as it becomes hard to follow.

Sorry about that. wasn't sure where it belonged as I saw tis kind of discussion both here & in the Accessory forum.

I wanted nav with a V6 that my rep said, "If I'm getting a purple Limited V6 with nav you're going to take it. I don't give a ish." He couldn't believe I was willing to wait almost three months for it.

The problem is that I have been waiting for five months. At this point, I either had to pull the trigger on a truck that was not my first color choice, or change my special order to a 2007 mordel! :xnuts:

what's wrong with white?:zoom:

Not a thing! In fact, now I am going to jump on the white truck bandwagon & tell everyone with non-white trucks how much better my white truck looks over theirs! :D

LSUMBA,

Sorry to hear about all the hoops you had to jump through. I'm glad you're getting closer to getting almost exactly what you wanted.

Good luck. Don't forget to post pics of it. :)
