so yesterday..

an mate came over to change the battery of his Lexus, when he put the battery in.. he didn't notice which was the positive and negative terminal... he ended up putting the negative terminals on the positive one and the positive one on the negative..

and so far, we have pulled out a few of the 10 amp fuse but the alternator fuse is also blown..

is there anything that could have gone wrong when the leads touched?

thanks.

There can be a lot of things that happened. Have you replaced the battery and started the truck yet?

Some body control modules can be sensitive to polarity changes. Could reset some things, can damage others. We need to know if it runs after the correct battery was installed.

I have returned for another battery but at the moment.. there is thunderstorm as we speak... I would go swap the battery out but rather not..

hopefully tomorrow when the weather gets better, I can take a look at it..

so far... there are a few fuses broken and the big 120 alternator one broke also..

is like the minute i don't go back and check on him.. he does this..

... and that's a good thing. It's supposed to do that and probably protected everything from major damage.
Replace all the damaged fuses before trying to start anything. The alt fuse may be hard to do because it's probably bolted in from the bottom of the fuse block.

I ordered one today and it should be here tomorrow.. if that doesn't get the car to crank over, i guess my friend is sol.. I'm hoping the ecu isn't toasted..

looks like it might be bad..

my friend's dad had his mechanic over to take a look at it, changed the fuse and battery but the car still won't crank.. the clock ain't working, radio isn't either nor is some of the lights on the dash..

looks like the computer might be shorted..
