acciently drained ATF pan instead of oil pan..

Stupid.. I know.
I accidently drained the tranny pan instead of the oil.
It's a 2005
I see that is takes WS ATF? Is anything compatible with this, or do I need to go an hour away to the Yota dealer?

Right now, she's stuck on the lift

Ehhh, I dunno about that, there are only a couple aftermarket fluids that specifically say they are compatible with WS. Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc is probably the only one you are likely to find but I would still stick with Toyota fluid on this one, trannies are not cheap.

when i was at toyota we were told time and time again its easier to stick with toyota ws/atf than go find a substitute fluid. Not from a selling standpoint but a liability.

I just bought a entire case (12 quarts) plus an additional quart.

Will be doing a complete flush this weekend.

Toyota doesn't make their fluid. It's made for them by one of the oil manufacturers.

There are a couple of oil companies that sell the WS Toyota fluid. But it's just as expensive as the stuff you buy from the Toyota dealer.

I've got some ATF coming in a bit.. how do I add it back? I don't see a filler tube or anything. I looked for a port on the tranny but didn't see anything either. This is driving me nuts..
Can anybody help?

I believe our transmissions are sealed units and you can't just pour new fluid in, it has to be at certain temperature if I remember correctly

2003's should be the ONLY ones with a non-sealed (dipstick) transmission, I believe.

So refilling a sealed one is gonna require a machine.

Didn't the 2004's have it too? If I remember correctly they all went to sealed in 2005 when the V8 got VVTI and the V6 got a 5 speed tranny.

No dipstick="sealed" and it has to be added in through a fill plug on the side of the transmission. Easiest thing to do is get something to measure what came out and pump it back in with a cheap $10 bottle pump found at Wal-Mart or any parts store usually. They're used to refill boat motors most of the time. Its supposed to be a certain temp, but you have to follow a process to put the transmission into check mode without the techstream software. It's a pain. Just measure what you drained and pump new back in and consider it a drain and fill.
