So what do you guys think of the new Acura RDX coming out?

Honda CRV on steroids!

Well, it does have cool features, like SH-AWD (seen in the current RL), NAV Traffic, etc. I am not crazy about the turbocharged engine, but i guess that this is the trend now with higher gas prices.

I don't care for car based unibody vehicles. Might be ok for my wife but not me.

Given 99.9 % of my driving is done on the highway, this might be a better vehicle for my lifestyle. The gas is hurting my pockets

If not this particular vehicle... something along the same lines.. something that I can get better than 17 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY!

Probably not the best choice if your pockets are hurting as I assume it will require premium gas. Plus the acura is a luxury brand so in general comparison it will be more expensive. The new 2007 Honda CRV is supposed to be based on the same structure but will be cheaper, non-turbo engine (regular gas) and possible better mileage.

The price difference from regular to premium is not as substantial compared to an overall mileage gain of up to 8-10 MPG (Murano) I think a more fuel efficient vehicle would be more beneficial from a financial standpoint.

If the CRV is the same but without the Turbo, I would have to say no to that due to the expected depleted performance.

For me, if i were to go the crossover route, then i would get Lexus RX350 AWD (loaded).

Not any funkier than your average miniSUV. I think that it looks good with leather and NAVI system. IMHO, it's a good buy for a city slicker who wants room and utility.

And if you are really a city slicker with tons of traffic, then i would look at the Hybrids. I can tell you for sure that Toyota Highlander Hybrids are NOT selling well. The listed MSRP is ridiculously high. I am sure that you can get tons off the MSRP.

The RDX looks nice and has great features. The MPG is rated 19/24. Your V6 is 17/21, but the actual MPG is lower than average.

The RDX's MPG may be no different if you end with a lower than average vehicle.

Maybe you need a V8 4Runner. I get 20-21 highway.

If i go with the Murano route... i dounf get about 23 - 24 .. those are actuals that have been reports on some sites i have gone to...

Do you know anything about the CVT transmisions?

Nah...i just go with the best vehicles in each class. This is why i have 2 toyotas and 1 german in my garage. As for CVT, i have not heard anything bad about Toyota's CVT.
