Added power ports to 1992, constant power

The lighter outlet in my '92 only works when the key is on and I have found situations where that just doesn't cut it. I decided to add a few power ports to the ride.

I installed one on the driver side lower left...

And on the center console passenger side...

I can use these for cell chargers. I also added one more port that is hidden behind the dash. My navigation unit is plugged into that one allowing me to hide the wire on the side of the dash. It looks much cleaner than having it drapped across the front of the dash.

All of the ports have been wired to the the constant power lead of the digital clock. I have installed a 20 amp in line fuse for the ports.

Sorry I didn't take shots of the installation but it was pretty easy to do.

One thing, did you fuse them? When I installed mine I brought new wire in from the battery to an extra fuse block under the dash, and each of my 3-plug units has it's own fuse (in addition to the inline fuse on the 4ga from the battery).

Yours is certainly a cleaner install than mine, tho. Nice job.

Thanks for the props. They are fused. I ran an inline 20 amp under the dash. I'll be running a new power lead from the battery for the audio upgrades down the road.
