My runner never had the running boards and looked a little empty between the tires. Found a great price on Ebay for these MAAS Stainless Steel side steps. Easy to install (4 bolts) into the frame. I got exactly what I was looking for.

The 4runner is not lifted, the only use will be to wash the top easier and let a few family members climb in easier. Just went for the look on this one.

I did'nt shop around very much, they typically cost from $200-$350 searching the internet. Got these (new) from a guy on Ebay for $117, shipped in 3 days.

I'm assuming they just bolt right into the same holes that the regular running boards used? You didn't have to drill your own holes or anything did you?

Not sure about the "same" holes as your running boards, as I never had them. If you look underneath at the frame, there are rectangular shaped holes (about 3 between the tires). No drilling, just insert a bolt attached to a similar rectangular shape into those slots and bolt em in. If pictures will help I'll slide under and get you some......when it gets warmer:beer: Let me know.

How 'bout that. I just put a pair of side bars on my 90 today. Got them mainly because my wife messed her knee up and has been having trouble getting in. Got chrome Wildcat Flash. It was the only ones I could find anywhere for 2nd gen that didn't require drilling the frame. They look good. Pretty happy with them.

Your MASS stainless look sweet and you got a great price.

can anybody recommend good side step/nerf bars for under $200? Anybody else have pics? BabeGTR, thanks for offering to take pics of the undercarriage but from what you described they just bolt onto the existing holes.
