Hey guys, since we have a dozen or so 3rd Gen's about to get, or just received their new AOR plate bumpers I thought it would be cool to share a thread where we all can include pics of our new hardware. This also might be helpful for people thinking about a new bumper and want to see them on different rig for comparison.

Anyway, we all know there were a few bumps along the way, but I'm pretty certain people will be very happy once they get their new plate bumper painted and mounted up. I guess I'll start since took these pics earlier this evening and just downloaded them. Hey, its totally cool to include your pics in your own personal bumper build-thread, but throw a couple in here too so we can see the whole Group Buy collection all together.

Here's mine that I received and painted on Wednesday, installed on Thursday, and drove back up the mountain on Friday.

*Used an oscillating tool with a Brillo pad surface to knock of any tiny burrs and lightly rough the surface better primer adhesion.

*Wiped thoroughly with denatured alcohol and hung the bumper from the patio cover so I could get a full 360 degree coating each time.

*Applied 2 coats (one full can emptied) of Rusto Self Etching Primer followed by 5 light coats of Rusto Professional Enamel in Semi-gloss black

*Took approximately 2 hours to install, but we were definitely not in any hurry so expect 1.5 hrs or so if you are comfortable doing these types of things already.

I have some pics taken along the way of the installation process, if guys that haven't installed yet need to see them let me know (maybe I'll do a DIY install thread?)

Absolutely, please join in. I just thought it might be nice to have a central thread for everyone to show off their new steel. "Show us your AOR" might have been a better thread title.
[MENTION=28692]05 LTD[/MENTION], I can't believe nobody has snatched yours up. A discounted price and practically no wait time at this point would make it a fantastic deal for someone. However, I am glad to hear you will be fully compensated either way.

Thanks Thor, I'm very pleased with the way it came out. Take a look [MENTION=101600]hour[/MENTION]'s pics and you can see the difference with a BL - it leaves a gap at the fenders but I don't think it looks bad at all. However, I'm really stoked on how clean it looks with a nice tight fit without a BL.

The DRings are just 3/4" Smittybuilts with the anti-rattle clips, I ordered some black ones for the front though to keep it stealthy. Really bummed I ran out of time and didn't get a chance to install the winch, but I'll bring the rig back down soon to finish up a few things. I already have a Yakima cargo rack, but I usually don't use the Runner for my camping trips so no use hauling around the dead weight. Good luck with everything, If you need any install tips please let me know.

I'm also running the smittybilt 3/4" d-rings with no probz. Got them on Amazon.

And to the body lift, yes, and it's no different an install but you will have a gap. I have a 1" toytec body lift. Someone on here has a 2" with this bumper if I'm not mistaken...

That's me!! I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do about it but I will be modifying something to take care of the gap. Not dis to you hour but I couldn't stand that 1" gap on your truck so 2" is gonna drive me up the wall... I can't wait to get mine tho!!

I think it'd bother me if I had gotten a 100% plate bumper. What I mean by that, is that body lifts look more acceptable on the AOR tube bumper... and in my mind, more passable with this hybrid-ish bumper.

You're going to have a hell of a time figuring out how to eliminate the bumper gap though when you get it. Everything is configured to work with their mount. If you come up with a solution you should definitely post it up.

Thanks! I've had a lot of fun building it lately.

I sort of ran into some trouble this last weekend when I ended up sitting here for too long...

Currently at the mechanic while he checks out the transmission and I have the whole interior pulled out to dry and clean. As it turns out the transmission breather is not located by the firewall on mine (I've read that lots of times on here but never confirmed it). If you plan to play by the water any make sure to check where your breathers are located.

She's a beast though. Ran 3 gallons of ATF through the transmission on the side of the trail and she finished the trip and then got me home under her own power.
