Addicted Offroad Bumper Status

It's not worth the headache for me to deal with a maker that doesn't give a F about even the most basic CS - no matter how good the product. Not gonna enable that dysfunctional relationship.

What i just typed reminds me of a record by Poison Idea "Dysfunctional Songs For Codependent Addicts" LOL.

I ordered my 3rd gen plate bumper on 1/19 with an estimated 10-12 week lead time… It arrived on 6/24. I first reached out at the 13 week mark as I had read a lot about their long lead times. I was able to get a hold of him on the phone a couple of times as well as with a couple of emails. He had supply chain and machine issues. My guess is he keeps a 10-12 week wait time so people will order stuff, 4-5 months would deter a lot of people. The bumper is solid AF and looks awesome, but damn it was a loooong wait. He seemed genuine on the phone, maybe he just needs to hire some help…although with this being a known thing about ordering from them I doubt it will happen.

Thanks for that info and agreed - many wouldn’t be willing to wait that long. If I go with the five months wait time, that will put it at the end of July. Let’s see if it makes that mark.

Didn't see which bumper you ordered, if plate bumper you'll be happy with it weighing 11 lb's more than factory fatlip that your taking off, weight was a factor for me.

The big ol plastic fatlip weighs like 20lbs total though? Weighed absolutely nothing when I took mine off
Every so often someone talks about how the front bumper is 100-something pounds and I dont have a damn clue where this comes from

Look at a parts page for it, I'm talking everything you take off from a 01 limited it adds up.

96RedRunner - thanks for sharing the weight, as I had no idea what the factory front fat lip weighed, but then again, I never looked :) I did get the plate bumper. I think in total, the AO bumper weighs right around 96 pounds.
toverturf - I have no social media accounts so I can’t see what AO is doing on Instagram since they require an account. Thanks for sharing that info :)

Fatlip mid 90#'s AOR plate 105#'s approx.
Something to check before paint, the lower tubes topside where they tie into center section is hard to get at welding
a side didn't get fully welded. Rain/water will get in the tube wind from driving will force water out leave you
rust colored water trails on bumper and frame until water evaporates.
Didn't catch this till after paint clear silicone to the rescue, can't see it lasts till it doesn't.
Also this may not happen on all bumpers.

That's what I was talking about, I don't see it adding up when you look at all the steel going on vs what's been removed. It's just the bumper, lights/brackets and cross member right? I know some OEM bumpers were reinforced but those only tack on another 20ish pounds I thought

i think the weight includes the weight of the reinforcement bar & attachments that connect to the horns of the ladder frame

All I can tell you good scales don't lie vs I don't see it adding up.
I can't weigh it again sold fatlip shortly after taking it off.
Didn't weigh each piece set bumper on scale put rest of junk in bumper.

I will definitely take a look at mine when I get it. Good tip!

I ordered my bumper in April and have been trying to see what winch they recomend as I would prefer not to cut the grill unless I have to. But no return emails or phone calls. So any info would be great. I ordered the plated bumper.
Thanks,

Thanks,

Mine was March 1, so let’s see who gets theirs first :)

I will be installing a winch as well, but not right away. I will finalize which one I go with once I get the bumper installed. I will let you know anything I hear from AO as soon as I do.

Thanks,
I’m in the process of installing an X2O 10k winch on my AOR tube bumper. It appears I will be doing some minor trimming on the grill.

When I was waiting for mine I emailed about what winches fit and there was a pretty small list of like 4-5 that fit (didn’t save the email). I ended up going with the smittybilt 9.5k synthetic. First out of laziness I mounted the control box on top of the winch and did some super minor trimming on the grill. Then I relocated the control box into the passenger wing of the bumper and wouldn’t of had to trim the grill at all. One thing to note if you mount the control box on top is you will most likely have to remove the control box to remove your grill which is a PITA.

Thank you both as that’s useful info to know! I was potentially considering these:

WARN 103255 VR EVO 12-S
Smittybilt X2O COMP

Will see if I do go with them or not. I don’t foresee the need to remove the grill once this is all done since I will replace the radiator too, but might be better if I mount the control box as mentioned.
