We just received the new crossmember prototype in over the weekend.

These new crossmembers will bolt on to your current 96-02 4runner. All you need to do is trim off the front flat original mounting piece on the front of the frame. This can be done with an angle grinder, sawzall, or die grinder easily. No welding is required at all!

All hardware will be included with the bumper when shipped.

Scotty that looks just like the one I got in April except for the tabs with the two bolts on the end of the mounting bracket. What are the tabs for? Do they just add extra strength to the bracket? Are they mostly for people who are running a winch? Just wondering if I need to order another bracket. I don't have a winch yet and probably won't for quite a while.

Yours is welded on. You're fine. No need for anything else.

This was simply a needed mod so that not everyone needs to weld it. Not everyone has the ability to have it welded. This solves that issue.
