Adding 12v Outlet

Admittedly I not real good with electrical stuff at all thus my question. I put the Smokers Kit in my truck and figure to use the outlet that was in the stock setup. Would tapping in to the wiring for the existing 12v outlet be okay or would I risk overloading the circuit?

No, I didn't search (I rarely find what I search for) so if this has been covered please just point me to the thread.

TIA!

Tapping into the existing wiring will work as long as you don't plan on using all of the outlets at once. If you are simply charging a phone or powering a gps you will be fine.

Thanks, I use it just for charging phones, I hard wired my GPS. The most use would be two phones charging simultaneously.

Should be ok. When I go on adventures, I plug a 3way adaptor in the stock one and run GPS, PHONE, and RADAR detector simultaneously.

It's all about wire gauge and fuses - if in doubt, run a new circuit with the correct wire size and a fuse to match the load you'll put on that circuit.

Good grief, of course! I've done the same and didn't make the connection. It'll be fine as I planned. Thanks guys!
