Adding factory seat heaters?

No, the oem harness wires aren't there for you to plug in to.. you can add an aftermarket seat heater and splice it into your wiring somewhere though.. through earlier discussions discussed in this forum the 5th gen 4runner wiring harnesses were built specifically for each trim vehicle.. so none of the 10-13 trails have any existing wiring for you to plug in to like a premium sr5 or limited would have unfortunately
 
Yes it's possible. But it cost about $1500 or more - someone on here did it, do a search. It would be much cheaper, easier, quicker to go with aftermarket kits.

is this the same with wanting a back up camera that goes through the mirror? My tacoma was prewired and all i had to do was but the mirror and the camera and plug it in.

as far as the mirror goes, i have no idea... i'm just forwarding info i learned on here about the wiring for oem heated seats

with what year 4runner did they do it on? there is a huge thread about it and unless some new information popped up.. on a 10-13 model there is no wiring loom for heated seats if it didn't come from the factory with it

Since I don't get the obsession with "factory," particularly with accessories,
I put in aftermarket heaters and they work just great (except the paint has rubbed off the switch). Had to shave off a little plastic on the right switch to get it to fit and spliced into the 12v plug that I have never used for power.

There is a guy here who had it done and it has been an electrical nightmare for him. Search for heated seats and you will find it.

I personally could give a rats behind about heated seats and never really understood the need. Even the cars I have owned that had them, I never used them.

I guess I have good blood circulation in my butt. :-)

The issues he had were unrelated to the seat heaters in terms of wiring. I went through that with him on the thread, the issue had nothing to do with his seat heater electrically.

I just got my after market heater kit in the mail yesterday. I'm going to attempt setting it up this weekend. I have to figure out the wiring as well. I did a Google search of seat heater install and there was several videos and lots Web pages on it so I'm going to check some of this info out before I start. If I succeed I'll try and take good pics and post what I did. I may fail and just have my local audio install place wire it up for me though.
 
Consider getting a remote start instead.

Your butt will still be cold, but the rest of the car will be warm, and the people in the back seat can enjoy it.

You could use it in the summer time too, unlike heated seats.
 
I put seat heaters in my Jeep Rubicon last winter, after my back surgery. Helped my back a ton during the winter!! I think they were $90 on eBay, and took about 1/2 day to install... Very easy! The switches looked "factory" and the heaters worked perfectly!

When I sold the jeep, I ordered the Trail Premium package on my 4Runner, mainly for the heated seats!!!

Next up, remote start kit... If I could only have one option (seats or remote start) I'd take the heated seats.... YMMV
 
have dealer put in their "bay" version.
Doesn't have dials but two position switch, and works great for way less than factory, too
 
I went thru the threads and did not find anything on installing those kits in the rear seats. Anyone modded the rear seats for heaters?
 
I think rear bun warmers sound like a great idea. Why the doors versus the back of the center console?
 
I had my dealer install aftermarket seat heaters (driver/passenger) on my SR5 for ~$690 (parts & labor) before I picked it up new! They put the buttons on the side of the seats. They have low/high heat options.
