Adding front compononets to my 05 SR5???

I just got my 2005 SR5 (non JBL) 4Runner today and I'm already thinking about audio upgrades. I'm pretty set on getting an Alpine 9857 deck as my first upgrade and would also like to to do front speakers too. Here are a few questions:

1. Will the tweeters fit in the factory location without any major modifications?
2. If I right, the front speakers are 6x9 so I'm assuming these come with some sort of ring adapter for fitting.
3. Where do most of you mount the crossover?
4. The Alipine HU puts out 18 watts RMS per channel. From what I've read these speakers sound better with more power. I really don't know if I could work a seperate amp into the budget at this time. Could I expect decent results with just the HU amp power?

As far as the front and rear speakers go...get these replacement mounts http://tacotunes.com/wst_page4.html
they are awesome.
You'll need to cut out the raised lip around the speaker opening on the back of the door panel for clearance for your new speakers.

Others can probably help with the info on that head unit and speakers. I am running an Eclipse amp under the front passenger seat and Eclipse speakers for and aft.

Also some of there EU-700 in my rear doors and you would think i had a pair of 10's back there. I love them when i get tired of my 4 ED 12's i turn them off and i have the 700's to give me a nice smooth base.

Do those eu700s fit in your rear doors? They look pretty deep.

I added some cheap Blaupunc 6.5" separates to my doors and used the Taco Tunes adapers.

I was able to get the tweeter in the stock location without too much work...might require a quick trip home depot/loews for 2 strips of metal with hole...i think its called metal strap for something like that.

I put even cheaper Pyle or Bazooka 6.5 in the rear and with my Scion radio it sounds pretty good. Wouldnt mind a sub though.

yes they fit what i did on my 06 was take factory speaker and gut it leaving just the plastic housing/baffle park. i mounted the speaker to it and then reinstalled it all back into my doors.

Or take a small piece of 3/4 mdf and just make a template and cut it out.

You will not be disapointed at all.

So you think having the eDi 6000s in the front and the Eu700s in the rear will sound pretty good? Would I be missing my mid-range? What kind of amps should I get to power them?

Kirby - someone else posted pics of their install of something like 4 or 6 EU700's in their 4runner and said it sounded great, like a couple of 12's. Any pics of your install?

New Components

Hi,
I just got done putting in the Apline seires b componets, It took longer than I thought and had some basic mods I had to do.

I did buy the 6x9 to 6 1/2 convertions I found on Ebay and the Tweeter adapter also. these help a lot.

What I did is cutt out the factory 6x9 and used the factory bracket and mounted the 6 1/2 in the adapter in the also sodered the factory wires to the new speaker, so I could use the factory harness,

Then for the tweeter I had to dremel out the hole on the adapter, to fit the Alpine. Also you need to cut the wires that into the tweeter and use the wires that don;t match the wires going into the woofer.

mounting the crossover was fun to. If you want I will have a couple of pics soon let me know if you want to see them

If you get a 4 channel amp that is 4 x 100 and run it in a 3 channel set up. you will be very very impressed.

yep that is were i first leaned about Elemental Design. i will have a full write up soon as i am still working on making it all look good and gettign amp rack built. Trying to find some cheap actuators today
