Additional Corn Fed Cost Worth It??

I've read just about every lift thread on this forum and haven't seen a definate answer to this question. Is the Corn Fed lift worth the extra ~$100 over the Daystar? If so, why? Its time to buy a lift and the corn fed 2/1 or the daystar 2.5/1.5 are one of the ones I want to go with. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I had similar questions as well and I ended up with the 3/2 Cornfed after most answers I received led me to believe that the quality was worth the price.

If you are planning on going with larger tires, you might look at the 3/2 as well, just my $.02
 
I think the price difference you're paying is in the material. 6061 aluminum vs poly.

Functionally they do the same thing. I've heard that metal spacers can ride a little rougher than the poly and I've heard that the poly may give over time.

Ask me? Save the money and get the DS. I'm happy with mine and you can probably buy them off of a forum member for cheap. Mine will be available befor the end of the year.

your not going to wear out Daystars.. I went with daystar because its easier to install and remove if you ever sell or swap rides. Take that extra 100 bucks and out it in your coilover fund :)

See I honestly felt like I lost lift over time. The daystar material almost felt spongy when I removed the spacers and went with my OME stuff.

I'd go cornfed. Just as easy to install plus a better material.

I lost lift with my cornfed over time too but it was from the stock coils sagging over-time, I too went to OME but if I did it again I would prob do the Billie and OME coil combo.

I'm not going to do new struts/shocks and springs at the moment because I like the XREAS system. For those of you that have done Daystar, has there been any abnormal effects on the suspension parts since the whole spacer goes above the strut? Versus a top spacer and coil spacer like you get with the cornfed.
Tire size will be 265/70/17. Will that size look right with the Daystar lift?

The only thing I've noticed since the lift is one set of CV boot bands coming loose. Now I can't remember which ones they were, but I want to say it was the smaller one (on the shaft itself) on the diff side (as opposed to the hub side). Other than that it rides as good as, if not better than, factory IMO.

As far as tire size, yeah, I think that'll like fine.
 
I'll be selling my Cornfed here soon. Having OW suspension put on tomorrow.

I have the 3/2, but the front isn't really a 3 because it is missing the thinner disc.
 
Spacer lifts are not rocket science. Use whatever is cheapest. I have had my Daystar lift on for many years with no problems but it is the old style that used 2 spacers on each front spring unlike the new kits that use only one spacer.

Poly spacers can't wear out like poly suspension bushings?

There are no moving parts like a suspension bushing, It is just holding the spring in place. I have heard but cannot verify that aluminum spacers can cause a squeaking noise when flexing off road from the metal on metal contact..

I have too, but never had that issue with my ome/toytec 1/4" spacer combo.
 
The thickness of the material is the thickness of the material. Just measure it.

If you lost some of your DS lift over time I would suggest that it was, at best, millimeters due to physical wear. Loss of spring height could be in the inches over time but that has nothing to do with the spacer. I would suggest that over the course of 5 years of "normal" varied use (on and off road) you would not find a noticeable difference in thickness between an aluminum and a poly spacer. (presuming that they were of equal thickness to start with)

I would be very interested to hear of actual before (installation) and after (5 + years of use) measurements.

I would too.

Funny thing is no one keeps spacer lifts that long as they move onto bigger better kits.
 
Actually....

if you think about it, the aluminum spacer is much more likely to degrade over time due to accelerated corrosion. This is a result of dissimilar metals in close (electrical) contact. This is especially a concern for those of us living in regions where salt is liberally applied to the roadways for much of the year.

From a purely practical perspective, poly would be the preferred material in those sort of environments.

I appreciate the input. I'll probably just go for the Daystar lift for its price and ease of install. When XREAS craps out I'll do a real lift.
 
Daystar is my suggestion because it's the cheapest. Very few people keep the spacer lift long enough to be affected by the issues being discussed.
