adhiesive remover for dashboard?

I made the mistake of using those velcro strips to secure a Garmin to the top of the dashboard and after removing the strips (now that I'm selling the 4runner 05 model) I can't seem to get the glue off the dashboard. Anyone know of a safe way to get it off without scrwing up the dashboard? I read somewhere on here about using olive oil so I'll give that a try while I await your replies. Thanks again for the help.

Try "Goo Gone" it should do the trick.

If you're going to try Goo Gone or Goof Off, stick with the citrus based ones. The petroleum based ones will damage the dash.

ice cube in a soft soft cloth

ice will harden up the goo-i-ness and then just rub with the cloth to pick it up and remove it. I would not use anything harsher than that myself on that kind of surface.

Dont use the goo gone. I used that on mine and it ruined it. It discolored my dash.

This is an AMAZING product, I have not found anything that works so good and safe to use. It is a MUST have product!

Yes, safe on paint. You don't even need gloves. A friend, who has a sign business, turned me on to this product. He told me it is the only product that will safely remove very old vinyl lettering from vehicles. I have used this stuff on so many different things that I would not want to be without it.
