Hey all,

Due to recent complaints about large pictures in signatures, i am creating this poll. (see thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?threadid=45986)

Enforcing the forum rules in regard to signature size is pain in the ass for admins and mods. All of us have day jobs...this is a hobby, not a job...therefore, we cannot go through every member's signature to check.

Here is the current rule on signature size etc.:
10. No creepy or gigantic sigs
Even though they are harmless, please do not use sigs that trace and display info about the viewer's IP address, location, etc. Also, so that our members don't have to constantly scroll down past gigantic sigs, please keep your sigs within the following ranges:

a) No more then 10 lines of text if you DON'T have a pic (including empty lines)
b) No more than 5 lines of text if you DO have a pic (including empty lines)
c) No pics taller then 100 pixels.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please vote on it...because this will determine our action on this forum.

Thank you in advance.

The huge pictures make it hard to tell where the thread is and the signature is sometimes (especially in the Gallery) and you already have a little Avitar... just text would be OK.

not trying to be a jerk,, BUT why even have rules, if they are NOT enforced ??
"Rules are Rules"

Im not trying to bash anyone here, just wish the staff would follow and enforce the rules,, or this site will end up like Pirate :bigok:

Rules are there as a way to help guide people on how to act on this forum. As noted, none of us (admins and mods) are around 24/7. Therefore, we cannot oversee everything all the time. Yeah, if someone blatantly does not follow the rules repeatedly, then we will consider taking actions. Every one of us at some point have broken the rules...but if strict enforcement were applied, this forum will consists of very few members and will frankly be quite boring.

For the most part, we give the members the benefit of the doubt.

understandable,, and another way I could look at it is, If I dont like it here, no one is making visit the site :bigok:
I know that I have a full time job, wrench on my own rig, wheel almost every weekend, and I run a forum, I know time is tight for some.

Thanks man for understanding! :)

I voted for the 1st choice, but want to vote for the 2nd also.

Some of the sig lines are ridiculous.

Who cares what vehicles you owned in the past. What offroad vehicles you have now matters (this is a site for offroad vehicles, isn't it?).
Do you really care about the POS Chevy Vega I once had?

And if you have 20% tint in the front and 40% in the back. Who even cares if your windows are tinted at all?

And the "diff vent mod", it's just a long piece of rubber hose. How is that important?

Just a clarification...this site was created by me (and Gatorgreg) to be respective of all 4runners, not just those that go off-road. There are plenty of 4runner forums that focuses just on off-roading stuff...this is NOT one of them. Although we do discuss off-roading and tend toward that side of the discussion, i do not want this forum to be all about off-roading.

BTW, diff vent mod is a very useful mod....

my vote....no pics in sig, just text (limited to a few lines)...avatars are for pics...if you need someone who is around most of the day to enforce, let me know...I'd love to help out.

not to be an ass or anything but what's wrong with pirate? it's an offroad website for true offroaders. at least you don't see "clear brake light lenses" and "how will by runner look with 22 inch wheels" posts.

no worries :bigok:

and that right there,,, is why I like this site, wheeling stuff, stereo stuff, pimpin stuff, etc.

THERE YA GO... you got someone that wants to enforce the rules... and has the time.... take him up on it

we can call him "The Enforcer" :bigok: looks like this issue can be put to rest.

Now that I've refreshed the page enough times to bypass the dreaded "Database Error" message, on to my comment! :bigok:

I def vote for #2 - No pics in sigs at all.

As others have said, that's what avatars are for. Besides, one huge sig photo after another just clogs up a thread. Before you know it, a 2pg thread turns into 8pgs just b/c of huge sigs!

I also agree that sigs should be limited to X amount of lines too. Even if you don't have a pic in your sig, there's no reason why your sig should have 30 lines in it. Believe me, I've seen plenty of those before too...

BTW, this poll will close in about 1 week so that we can get as many people to vote on this as possible.....................so that no one will later whine about it!

To the admin...Thai & GG and all the mods THANKS for the maximum tolerance about pics in sigs.

Still have 1 week to vote, if "NO PIC" will win in this poll then NO pic!!

But the rule as of this time are :
a) No more then 10 lines of text if you DON'T have a pic (including empty lines)
b) No more than 5 lines of text if you DO have a pic (including empty lines)
c) No pics taller then 100 pixels.

and I interpret it this way :

Not sure if it would be an option in this site but in another forum I belong to we have the option in our settings to not show signatures. I use it that option so the page loads faster and for ease of reading.

Re: Answer

[clip] discuss this further please "pm" me. Also I am not working much rite now so I would be glad to help! [/B][/QUOTE]

The concern is people with large pictures in their SIGNATURES (mine says 2005 SR5...etc) - not large pictures in the actual posts... We all love big pictures IN the posts!

410toy,your sig is about 5 lines too long. ;):

Spread your mods into longer lines if you need to show 'em all.
