Adulting is Hard: Keep 3rd Gen or go Commuter

In 2004 my commute went from 12 miles each way to 50.
I did with the T4R for a while but I hated watching the mileage go up on the OD & filling it up every 2 days. I bought a nice used Corolla for 7G's getting 34mpg & the 4R became my bad weather vehicle & weekend toy.

That came up a ton. We will get some dicey black ice/crap weather in the gorge, and it makes you pucker up and beg for rubber barriers when watching cars find ditches or other cars. It reminds me of parents who have a new kid and are cringing at dangers, and there is the neighbor with a couple and both kids catch themselves with their faces...and get back up.

Nothing wrong with owning multiple vehicles, I think everyone should have at least two. And nothing wrong with having a 4runner and a Taco ,as I have both and they are distinctly different. The issue for me is that you bought a new Taco. You could have bought a used 4runner, Taco and a commuter for what you paid for it. I am glad you love it and you should enjoy owning it, but I would always recommend buying a good used car, that way you can add to your vehicle collection without feeling guilty

We had looked at used first, but the cost was pretty close to new for recent years. Looking at about 5 different dealers and CList, and only see a few thousand difference (if that) for 30k 50k+ miles, didn't see worth it. It was also really hard to find what we were actually looking for. Even going new, we had difficulty finding what we wanted. I've never been one to shy away from buying a used Yota. Unfortunately, everyone wants a used one, so they are harder to come by. My ONLY disappointment in the Taco thus far, previous body style was cooler. Not even really a disappointment. Actually, the ONLY disappointment I had felt at all, was the thought that I'd have to sell my 3rd gen. More and more becoming silly to have considered it.

I have heard about used Tacos going for crazy prices but I did not think it was that bad. I know they are coveted down here and you cannot find one unless its your best friend selling it or its totally beat to shit, Mine is a 99 single cab 2.7 5speed, not the most coveted of tacos but perfect for me. I think it started getting crazy with the 02 double cabs and up

Pac NW is subaru and yota crazy. It feels like black Friday when shopping for a used one.
