Advice Needed on Front Component Speakers

I'm hoping that there are some serious audiophiles on this forum who can provide some guidance.

In my 2006 SE (non-JBL) I need some help in choosing the speakers. My system configuration is the following

- AVIC D3 Head Unit
- 4ch Alpine AMP (F450 or F550 depending on speaker)
- Component speakers in front, Coax in rear
- NO SUBWOOFER

The sound quality that I like is "clear but mellow". Loudness is not a critereon, but quality of sound is. Exceptional low frequency response is a requirement to balance out the lack of the sub-woofer.

The comp speakers I am considering are under $250 range of Focal. MB Quarts, Alpine, Boston Acoustics etc. This truck is my daily driver and not a competition car

I hope there are some people on this forum who have experience with the sound quality of these speakers and can provide some input.

focal, focal access series do the job at that price, other wise get the k2p if u want to spend money, of course the utopia series is the best but i guess u dont want to pay that much.

Your choice of component speakers may not be as important as the installation.
On my '07 4R I installed Polk components
in the front doors and fully deadened the doors with Raamat. The amount of bass is amazing. I do have a sub however it is only an 8" JL in a small box. I am using the Alpine MPR f450, 2 channels for the front and bridged for the sub. The rear door Coaxials run off the head unit.
Search for "stealthbox"

PS I deadened all 5 doors inside and out and I'll bet you'd be amazed at how quiet my 4R is compared to stock.

Chip,
I spend many many miles in my T4R and am really into trying to lower the 'noise floor', not just for music, but also for hands free phone quality, etc. Can you give me direction on where to buy that stuff (Raamat) and how it's used?

There info will apply to any Brand of noise
reducing product you can afford etc.
I found the Raamat to be very easy to work with and all 5 doors were completed in one long day. Of course you can go as far as you want...floors, fire wall etc.

If you want better quality to the speakers, swap out that alpine MRPF450 for a JL Audio A4300. It makes a huuuuuuge difference as far as sound quality and the upgrade is around $120.

Nothing wrong with focal speakers... I suggest listening to the JL VRs. I'm also a fan of memphis speakers.

My only other advice is listen to the speakers, not what people say, before you buy them! I can tell you all day long that the VRs sound better than the Focals, but if you like the focals better then get those!

focal speaker is way better than jl audio speaker, but u can never go wrong with jl audio subs, also the slash series amp from jl is way better than there a series. my system consist of pioneer deh-8600mp deck, i have the 6 disc dvd indash dvd changer from pioneer also, the jl audio 300/4 amp to power the a/d/s/ al6 components for the front, and focal access 5-1/4 for the rear on the 96 4runner, also a jl 500/1 to power my 2 12s w3v2 in the ho box from jl. HO212R-W3v2, my system is loud enough for me beacause i play it at volume 20 and all my workers say they can here me and laugh wen i set the alarms off in the parking lot.
