Advice on picking up used SC

Good morning all,

Tomorrow I am looking at picking up a used TRD supercharger. It has 40k miles on it, located a couple hours away. He is asking 1500. Since it is used, I wanted to ask for any advice on how to proceed? What questions should I ask, or what should I look for when viewing it?

Here are some pics.

Thanks guys!

Don't know what the supercharger is worth, but definitely ditch that air filter and get something proper.

Yeah I've been watching that one for a few days. My guess is it will reach 2k pretty easily.

Just got word it is the 1st gen

His price is about the going rate for used superchargers. Don't let the appearance bother you, it looks to be really dusty. Make sure it spins freely without too much resistance. Also I would plan on rebuilding it if I were you, just to be safe. Good luck tomorrow, hopefully it works out for you. 1st gens are just as good as the 2nd gens one. You can easily mod the first gen to be able to change the fluid with it installed. I'll post the link in here when I get home to my computer where I have it saved.

I agree with PhdNPrerunners. If you buy it, just save yourself some grief and rebuild it before even attempting to install. I bought mine for $1500 used and was told it is rebuilt, don't trust anyone that will tell you that. Ended up with the truck sitting for a few weeks while it was getting rebuilt. I was trying to save a few bucks but now I think I should've bought a new kit. It would only cost me about $500 more with what I spent make the used one work. I think its worth it for a peace of mind.
