Advice on removing dash for NAV install..

I've read all the threads...and feel pretty confident on getting the Camry Nav into my 04 non-JBL 4Runner.

Any advice, wisdom or hardcore directions on getting the radio and AC trim out easily.

PS, I have a clicking sound from somewhere around the dash, glass, glovebox area...any thoughts while I got the thing apart.

I can only help with your last question. That is the HVAC adjusting itself to maintain the correct temperature. I have that click too. I do not think there is a fix for that.

this is a different sound. Sounds like metal hitting glass when I go over any road imperfections (in NJ alot of em) and when I make a turn of tight radius.

But have the HVAC click too..

Pull the black trim up from around the gear shift (no bolts/screws)
Pull the silver trim up from around the center console (around the gear shift as well.. but this time the outer trim) No bolts or screws, unhook the connectors
Remove the lame slim storage tray in the center of the dash that pops out (below the A/C controls(just flip it open, then pull up)
you will find one screw behind it near the top. Remove that screw.
Now grab the AC controls and the comptuer display. just give it a good yank.. it will come out. Unhook the connector
Now.. remove the two bolts by the drivers knees, pull that panel out (the drivers knee panel below the steering wheel.)
You will find one bolt hiding to the right of this panel that is holding on the center trim. Unbolt that bolt, and the two bolts that are now visiable behind the computer/AC controls. Now pull the center trim (silver) from the panel.
You will find two remaining bolts holding the radio in, unbolt them and you are done.

Once you have done it a few times, you can have your truck apart in under 5 minutes.

As an MD, I am MUCH more comfy with a repair on a clogged coronary...put a truck in front of me..I AM A NERVOUS WRECK...so Thanks a lot for easing my "hunt and destroy" dash removal system.

I live in New Jersey too. Those bumps can kill your car. They are like craters! What part of New Jersey are you from?

I know those holes well...

I am in Princeton...and JEEZ...route 287 or 95 can kill a suspension...my poor S2000 is banned from that road until JUNE!!!

I am from Monmouth County. I agree. 287 and I-95 are awful.

did anyone ever find out how to fix the hvac heat clicking noise? i have that issue as well
