Advice on rubber mats - Not husky or weathertech

First - I PROMISE I used the search function! Found plenty of info on weathertech and husky, but honestly neither looks real promising. I hate that sort of hard plastic liner.

Anyone know if there's a similar generic product out there that would be custom fitted to our 4 Runners?

Well I won't say custom fit, but I use the goodyear rubber floor mats. The are heavy duty and great for trapping water mud and dirt.

I use LLBean rubber mats. Have for years. It has tough carpet over rubber. Works as good as any and look great. Generic fit though and they hold tons of slush instead of just ponding.

searched for them on amazon, the only universal set i could find looked like the mats were REALLY small for the back seat - I'd at least want something that went over the hump in the floor.....

Why not the Weathertechs though? I know that the molded liners are hard but the regular mats aren't are they?

You're looking for the Hexomats! Just like you, I loved the floormats in my MKV GTI. I've had mine since November or December and been very happy other than the smell the rubber has the first week or so. I recommend letting them set out in your garage or something for a week before installing. They look great and are very grippy, though not quite as soft as the OEM GTI mats.

Someone else asked why not the Weathertechs? Got mine in March and don't know how they'll hold up but...best fit I've ever had, they're not plastic counter top hard and contain the dog/kid/wife and whatever mess better than any I've had. 3 friends have seen them and bought them based as much on the function as well as the looks.
