New to 4 runners and need advice.

Im considering a 93 SR5, V6, 5 Speed for my son to drive back and forth to school and around town. Its my neighbors and he purchased it new.

Has 303K and for the miles is clean. Has been garaged all its life and has been well cared for.

It has a tranny issue. I think its the clutch from what he tells me. He said it will "limp" around if you start it in gear and only first and second will work.

He just mentioned it to me tonight, so have no had time to look at it in the daylight. Will tomorrow.

Any advice? To many miles? What do I offer him if its worth buying? Is there a sticky post on here of clutch and pressure plate change? Used the search function did not come up with much.

I know my Volvo had close to 200K, and thanks to the guys on Volvospeed forum and my maintaince and care, its very dependable.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

WOW, 303K miles.

Toyotas are known for lasting but that's incredible if it's the original engine and tranny.

If it's just the clutch it's no problem, if it's the tranny you can get a good rebuilt one from Marlin for a reasonable price.

If I buy it I will take some pics, and its 316K.

It truly is very clean. They take very good care of their stuff.

Any advice on how to tell if its just clutch or is actual tranny?

He told me last night $500. Im going tonight to really look it over hear it run. He just put brakes and shocks all around last month, and tires have about 4K on them.

Appreciate your feedback.
