What’s the price difference between the two?

I’m not familiar and have no experience with the afe, but Borla is as legit as it gets which is why they back it with their 1 million mile warranty. Plus the sound is absolute perfection.

If the price difference is nominal, get the Borla. You’ll never regret it.

Stay stock. Literally nothing sounds good on the V6, they all sound very riceish. If you absolutely must go aftermarket, Borla is the "best" I've heard but still not worth swapping IMO

I have the aFe hi-tuck catback. Waiting on the y-pipe to arrive. Will check back when both are installed.

I went the cheaper route and just cut and welded on a Flowmaster Super 44 muffler. Sounds great and not ricey at all. For our 4runners there's no need to upgrade piping because it doesn't do anything. I looked into both those exhaust systems also and they sounded the same as a stock exhaust.

I have been looking at that Catback. Interested in opinion.

I have the cat back for sale on eBay right now for a significant discount compared to new, and mine is practically new. I liked the afe, it has an aggressive sound and was an easy install. I changed it out just because i ordered a urd y pipe and wanted to match so i got the urd cat back. Let me know if you are interested in buying the afe Mach force xp, we can make a deal to save you money and save me paying eBay fees.

Look in classifieds

I picked up Borla for a good price, it sounds better than stock with a CAI, but like someone said in a post above v6 does not really have a growl to it. The stock bolts had to be cut off from corrosion. Slapping in a muffler is cheapest but I have never been happy with results from just doing that.

I've got a great sale on the Gibson Exhausts for this truck. There a single straight out the back version, and a side dual exit, behind passenger rear mudflap. CHoice of polished tips or ceramic black tips. There are rave reviews on this and there is another post about this system here on the forum as well.

Gibson 5th gen Catback Exhaust at Burtman Industries, SALE

Also just in is the new S&B intake, which can't be beat for price, very affordable and killer testing by S&B shows the airflow increase over stock.

I went with a Borla over a Flowmaster catback. Doesn't sound ricey at all, and doesn't drone either. It's got a deeper sound than stock, but not as pronounced as the TRD catback that was on my 2012 Tacoma. Overall, I'm happy with it, and I enjoy it more now that I added the TRD CAI.

Did you get the afe y-pipe? The one I see says compatible to the 2011 model year.

I have the 2011 model. The aFE y-pipe fits well, follows the OEM routing too. Removing the stock y-pipe was a pain after a lot of twisting and turning. I messed up the exhaust studs on the header so will have to replace them. SMH. I'll take some pictures and videos after I replace the studs. I think there might be a leak b/c of it

Here are some pics. Installed for over a month. All of the pipes showed rust spots already after 1 weekend in Tahoe. The y-pipe clears the Shrockwork under armor just fine.

Agreed with several others above. Unless you want that ricer sounds leave it alone. They sound pretty good at idle but above that they all sound like garbage. No V6's sound good unfortunately. At least in my opinion.

This is what good sounds like. [emoji16]
