AfroWookie's build thread (Volume 2)

I had a build thread before, but I didn't like it. I erased it and decided to start another one now that my truck is sitting how I want it, for the most part. I started with a bone stock 2006 SR5 4WD

First mod was to debadge the doors

Then I did the interior LED swap

Next came my attempts at Plasti Dip. I did the grill, lower valance and rear gate molding

My next two mods were done in one day as both shipments came in on at the same time. It was like Christmas time haha.

HID heads and fogs

Together

Just headlights

Just fogs

I had been looking at aftermarket roof racks. After making a list of what I may put up there, I decided to save some money and go with the Yakima MegaWarrior. I like that I can remove it easily if need be and for what I would use it for, it fits my needs perfectly

Then came the lift. I decided to go with the DayStar 2.5/1.5 kit with stock FJ springs in the front. I also decided to go with 265/70 Nitto Terra Grapplers and my stock wheels. This is how I think a 4WD 4Runner should sit from the factory

Finally pulled into a parking lot tonight and found the exact model to compare to

Future mods include, PlastiDip the wheels and door handles black, and a HiLift jack. Further down the line, I'm hoping to get sliders and maybe a Demello front bumper. If I decide to get one, I'll probably upgrade the front springs to accommodate the extra weight. I'm up in the air about wheel spacers. I had a bad experience with them on my Tacoma (They weren't spidertrax which I know has a great reputation) and it's kind of turned me off to them. I might get some eventually but it's not high on my list. I also hope to set up a rear cargo holding like DustyDriftwood's

Lol your build is supposed to show progression, not just the final product!

What happened with your spacers on your taco? I haven't heard of any failing before but was doing some reading today about it, seems a lot of people are leery of them but I didn't see anything about one actually failing.

Well a buddy of mine ordered a set off of Ebay and they accidentally sent two sets. We waited a few weeks to see if they would ask for them back and they never did so he gave them to me. I was driving over a bridge in the area and the studs on the spacers sheared right off at 65 MPH. My truck dipped down in the front right but thank goodness it still tracked straight and I was able to guide it to the shoulder. After doing some research and talking with the guys over at TacomaWorld, we figured out that they were probably lugcentric and not hubcentric. I'm not even sure what brand they were, to be honest. I know of numerous people who have ran the Spdertrax with zero issues, they're just not something I'm 100% sure of right now

Just installed some LED reverse lights from Whitebeauty, I believe they're 11W bulbs, super bright. I also ordered a new lift to replace the Daystar kit, hopefully I can get it installed soon
