I cannot find the thread where we discussed about the MPH and RPM. I said mine is 80 MPH and 2900 RPM.

Few days ago, I cleaned the mass air flow sensor, changed the rear, transfer and front diff oil 80-90 W, replaced all 6 spark plugs with NGK and 32 PSI all around...

400 RPM drop..... but still 16 MPG highway... no CEL...

When the truck was in CA/NV, it did 20 easy at 72 MPH. After moving to LA, mileage is dropped significantly. Can this be due to bad gasoline or something?

This,you're trying to push a brick through the air and expect decent mpg's? I can get 20mpg with mine on a 2-lane running 60mph.

In addition to what everyone else has said, doing general maintenance will have absolutely no effect on final drive ratio and cause a "400 RPM drop" at 80mph.

It's not a race car, I have to constantly remind my wife of that when she takes it for the day. Going 60mph will greatly improve the mileage. Even with 347k miles and a lot of original parts on the engine, I get about 19.5 driving 60mph with the A/C on. I still drive about 70 or so around town, because I don't want to get run over, but when taking a weekend trip, I will slow down a bit to help out the gas mileage. On a 200 mile trip, going 60 vs 70 is about another half hour on the road. If I'm going for a really long trip, we will take my wife's Mazda 3, as it gets about 30 mpg even at 80mph.

None of those things you did is related to the 400 rpm drop. Only thing that can cause that is transmission. I don't know if the tranny mode selector can have anything to do with it. Maybe the tranny was not in OD lock-up previously.

I'd say bad gas gives you worse mileage I can do 70-75 and be at 18-19mpg with none ethenol gas when I get gas with ethenol my gas mileage dropped to 16-17.

Thats just the difference between E10 and 100% gasoline.. Not too many places sell 100% gas anymore.. what he means by bad gas is no name gas (thrifty, costoc, arco) vs Shell/Chevron/76 etc
