After Lift Question

After I installed my lift I measured about 37.75" in the rear and 37" in the front ground to fender with 265/70/16's. One day later I got a set of bfg's size 265/75/16 and an alignment. I measured again when I got home and the front is now sitting just over 38" and the rear is just under 38". It's really no big deal since I can adjust the fronts down but can anyone tell me why I gained so much height in the front? Thanks

I realize you asked this question 4 months ago but did you measure the drivers side with an empty tank of gas before and full tank afterward? These things leeeean left after a lift.

ALWAYS measure from fender to center of hub. That way it takes varying tire sizes out of the equation and just leaves suspension.

correct me if im wrong but arent 265/75's taller than 265/70's? if your measuring from the ground to the fender wont that account for the change in height?

I think he means why did his truck go from being higher in the rear to nose high...

Did the back coils sag since you took the 1st measurements? More weight in the back now? Empty tank vs. full tank like Josh said? Did you measure again with the truck parked in the same spot? Lots of variables here, but one thing you can rule out.. the front coils didn't stretch.

Yeah, this was a while back. Let me see if I remember correctly.

I believe the issue was that the front gained over an inch in height and the rear gained less than a quarter of an inch after tires and alignment.

Measurements were taken the next day. No load change as far as gas or cargo. Truck was parked in the same spot in the garage.

My guess is the alignment changed the angle of the front suspension to raise it up more than the rear and in the end, I lowered the front just over an inch.

The current measurements are just over 37" in the front and about 37.5" in the back - ground to fender.

It's all good now.

It does lean when I fill the gas tank but it's not bad.

Also, this makes me remember that I never got it re-aligned after I adjusted the fronts down. Oops.

Also also, after I adjusted the fronts down, the right improved dramatically. Just FYI

You should probably get another alignment now that you moved them back down. Did the alignment shop adjust the coilovers up when they did the alignment maybe? Otherwise, even making extreme adjustments, I don't see an alignment lifting the front up that much.

Nope, they didn't touch it.

I was stumped, and still am, but it's all good now.
