... I finally met the 4runner that met all of our criteria (good condition inside/out, less than 100k miles, 06-09 sport edition, v6, and affordable). Just some background, I sold my 23' Mako center console boat and the 99 5.2l 4wd Durango that was pulling it. We found out my wife is expecting our 2nd child, a boy, so needed to let the toys go and get the wife a bigger and more gas efficient vehicle for a daily driver, and I'll take over her current clown car (2004 Chevy aveo hatchback).
So, we are the proud owners of a 2008 4runner sport edition. Although it's a first for our family, it's the 5th in my extended family. My dad had a 99 4cyl 4runner that he totaled 6 months ago, I found him a pristine 2005 4r sport edition with 44k miles for $12,900, bought from a rich guy. My brother in law has an 04 sr5, his brother has a 98 sr5 and their dad has a 2003 limited v8 4wd. That's where my user name comes from, I am #5, not clever, but couldn't think of anything else.
Plans are not extensive, we are not off roaders by any means. But I was proud to drive around the gate entrance yesterday to my parents neighborhood since we didn't have the gate opener in this vehicle yet. Took the curb like a champ
I am ordering some weathertech grey mats for front/back/cargo area today. Also looking to buy some "drop in" DVD player head rests, don't have the time or brains to do myself, any tips on where and what's good is much appreciated. The flip over part on our arm rest is there, but one of the side pieces holding it together broke off, any tips on where I can get a new piece? Called Toyo parts and they said I would need to replace whole center console?!
Took a 2hr drive back home from south Florida and electronics calculated 23.8mpg (mostly highway), I am very happy, but skeptical with that number, so I will be manually calculating.
