aftermarket alarm question!

i know this question has been brought up in some threads but they just died without clarifications. i have an aftermarket alarm that has a remote start capability and an aux output for extra purposes. my question is , for 2k4 4runners, does it still need transponder bypass module ? what kind, how much and where to buy(no key required kind)? and with my present alarm with aux output, can it be programmed to have the rear window go down or do i just put the original remote with my keys just for that option? somebody mentioned an "ign?", is that something you ask from the dealer to get your aftrmrkt alarm system working with the rear window? please acknowledge. thanks!!!:)

Your going to need to bypass the transponder somehow. The 2k3-2k5 all use the transponder keys. The solutions I've seen all require you to keep a key taped inside the car somehwere.

Yeah you'll definitely need something to bypass the transponder. There is usually a module you can buy that does it for you and it only temporarily disables the transponder when you do the autostart. otherwise, the transponder works the same way and you still need a key with a chip and proper programming to start the car.

I asked the guy at circuit city about the rear window power down and he said i'd probably need a different solenoid to power down the window with the alarm i wanted. he said that the regular solenoid only sends a single pulse to power the window down, i'd need something that had a sustained pulse. i didn't really believe him since my window goes down with the stock key fob.

well i'm probably going to get one before winter fully sets in. let us know how yours goes.

yup. you got it! before winter sets in. my friend told me that i needed a "roll up module" to bypass the rear view window to go down, even all windows including sunroof (if you have one) and all you need to do is have each window the said module. and if your existing aftermarket alarm has an aux, you can program all of them to go down with one press of the finger. nice, huh?!;): all i need now is the wiring diagram, i dunno if somebody from here would be kind enough to share....:( ...i dont find the cd manuals available in ebay, too.
